Loy Krathong Festival at the Haven of Life

Loy Krathong is held on the full moon of the 12th month in the traditional Thai lunar calendar. In the western calendar this usually falls in November.”Loy” means “to float”. “Krathong” is a raft about a handspan in diameter traditionally made from a section of banana tree trunk decorated with elaborately-folded banana leaves, flowers, candles and incense sticks. During the night of the full moon, many people will release a small raft like this on a river. Many Thai’s believe that floating a krathong will create good luck, and they do it to honor and thank the Goddess of Water. In addition, fireworks take place during the festival. Why not join in the fun this year.

Krathong Parade & Gala Dinner on Sunday 17th November 2013

Time Event
11:00 All departments show their krathong at the Orchid lounge for vote by the guest
12:00 Demonstrate Krathong making class at Orchid Lounge with Mocktail snack
14:50 All departments bring their krathong to F/O lobby
15:00 Long drum dance parade and krathong from each Department will lead to the swimming pool
19:00 Gala dinner around the pool start with Thai Live Band and Thai classical show during dinner time
21:00 MC announce the winner of krathong contest and following present the prizes
21.30 Welcome all guests to join Thai folk dance
21.45 MC announce the meaning of floating krathong and invite our guest to take their krathong to float in the sea or in the swimming pool
