Having charmed visitors for over 80 years, Hua Hin is an historic holiday beachfront resort town and the home of Klai Kangwol Palace,
the residence of His Majesty the King. In recent years however, continuing development and urban expansion have contributed to environmental problems such as water pollution, increasing waste and public safety. These have become a growing concern, and can lead to the deterioration of the quality of life of the community and damage to the longstanding tourism business.
The Preserve Hua Hin Group
(PHHG) emerged as an altruistic co-operation between government agencies, Chiva-Som International Health Resorts Co., Ltd. and other private business with the multi-faceted effort of preserving the beauty and protecting the natural environs of Hua Hin. Since its inception in 2004, PHHG has been driving environmental awareness, promoting resource conservation initiatives and organising social interaction in the local community.
With the aim of promoting Hua Hin as a natural tourist attraction, PHHG focuses on preserving the alluring old charm and unique beauty of the area which is a vital yet delicate balance of life for both culture and nature. PHHG collaborates with public and private sector organisations to sponsor events such as outdoor concerts, marathons, art exhibitions, reforestation projects, beach clean-ups and other activities for community improvement, environmental and social sustainability, and overall well-being. 5th Annual Preserve Hua Hin Heavy Half Marathon & Fun Run
6 April 2008
The 5th annual Preserve Hua Hin Heavy Half Marathon & Fun Run took place on 6 April 2008. Once again it was the collaboration of PHHG, Prachuab Khirikhan provincial authority, Hua Hin Municipality, Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment and local public and private sector organisations. Beginning and ending on Hin Lek Fai hill, runners faced the challenge of running down and back up the 800-metre, nearly 45-degree incline to finish the race. The marathon was part of the special events of the province highlighting "Sports for Health", the promotion of tourism and to celebrate the 80th Birthday Anniversary of His Majesty the King. The male and female categories included 21.1 km, 10.55 km and 3 km. For more information, call 032-536-536 or
