Hair Removal
In the modern age, lasers are the most popular and effective method for beautifying the body through hair removal. Their use is replacing electrolysis – which is often very time-consuming and inefficient – and waxing, shaving, and depilatory creams, which have only temporary results. Lasers are specifically designed to destroy many hairs in a short time, with little chance of complications, and their effects are permanent in most subjects.
How does it work?
Lasers emit infrared energy through the skin, which is absorbed by its target, be it an unwanted blood vessel, birthmark, tattoo, or in this case, hair. The laser used in hair removal targets the melanin (color) in the hair follicle, damaging the follicle and removing the hair. Laser hair removal is safe enough to be used on all body parts, including the face, back, underarms, bikini line, legs and arms. It treats large areas at one time, and a unique computer-guided scanning system automates the process, ensuring that skin is rapidly and evenly treated in a safe, fast, effective and gentle way.
Does it work for all skin types?
It is very good for lighter skin types, and it is the best option for darker skin types because of the relatively low absorption of this light by melanin. Also, the ability to safely treat sun-tanned skin makes this an excellent choice for active and sporty people. Laser hair removal works best when the hair is one to two millimetres in length.
Is treatment permanent?
On average, each treatment will attain some permanent hair loss. So in most cases hair total removal can only be achieved after several treatments, depending on individual responses and the amount of hair to be removed. Remember that the goal may not be total hair removal – hair that remains is often lighter in color and thinner than the original. As with other treatments for unwanted hair, there is no guarantee that laser hair removal treatment will be permanent.
How many treatments will I need?
You may need three to five treatments at approximately five to eight-week intervals. There are three phases of hair growth - anagen, catagen, and telogen. Only hairs in the active growth, anagen, can be successfully treated.
Does the treatment hurt?
You may not need any anesthesia for your treatments, which most guests describe as “prickly”. Afterwards, it might feel like strong sunburn. Discomfort levels will depend on the area being treated. Usually, no specific aftercare is needed.
How
long will it take for my skin to heal?
Normally the skin looks red and swollen for 48 hours, or possibly longer. The doctor can test a small area initially, if required. Occasionally, guests might develop a blistering reaction. If this happens, consult our doctor and ask for specific post-laser treatment options. There is a low risk of pigmentary changes, which you can discuss with our doctor prior to treatment.
Price: 4,200 – 19,700 Baht ++, depending on the area treated.
