Healthy and beautiful skin starts below the surface in complex tissue called collagen, a basic building block that provides the foundation of your skin’s structure. Collagen is damaged or degraded by environmental factors and particularly by the sun, severe acne, and skin stretching during pregnancy. Damaged collagen makes the skin appear irregular or thin and can create ‘pitting’, stretch marks, fine lines and wrinkles.

Unfortunately, our bodies don’t recognise the deterioration of collagen, so we don’t replenish our own natural supply. But with Laser Skin Rejuvenation we have a simple and effective stimulus that encourages a fresh, young layer of your own natural collagen.

How does the treatment work?

Results are achieved from the inside out. A cooling mist protects and cools the epidermis, the skin’s surface layer, whilst we apply a unique laser energy in gentle pulses that passes through the epidermis to the layers of skin where collagen is formed. This triggers a repair mechanism, and your body begins to rebuild and replenish its own natural collagen.

What is the treatment like?

We can perform the treatment on any area of the skin. It’s a very relaxing process that takes only a few minutes, during which you will probably feel a warm sensation. Afterwards there will be a blush in the treated area for an hour or so, but you will be able to apply make-up and resume regular activities immediately.

What improvement will I see?

If you have acne scars, you may notice a smoother skin texture after only a few treatments. In most cases the bottom of individual scars will push out to become more even with the surrounding skin, for a healthy, more attractive appearance. Stretch mark irregularities can diminish and the stretch marks themselves become much less noticeable. For those with fine lines and wrinkles, your skin will begin to look softer and younger.

For best results, take a series of three to five treatments performed over two to four months. Chiva-Som guests can follow their first laser rejuvenation session with a second after five days, or with treatments on their return home or to Chiva-Som. During your consultation, you will be advised as to the number of treatments recommended to achieve your desired results. Occasional follow-up treatments may be suggested to maintain or continue your improvements.
