Skin Tightening and Contouring with Thermage
Thermage is one of Niranlada’s non-surgical procedures for tightening loose skin, which can give you a smoother and more youthful appearance. Because there is no surgery involved, you will experience virtually no downtime and should return to normal activities immediately following the procedure.
How does it work?
Thermage delivers radio-frequency energy in the form of heat into the skin, which causes immediate tightening of collagen. New collagen then forms over time, resulting in additional tightening.
How long does each treatment take?
Including time to prepare your skin the procedure takes 20 minutes to one hour, depending on the size of the area treated.
How soon will I see results?
Most individuals see results gradually within two to six months, although some patients see results immediately.
How long will the results last?
Unpublished reports by experienced physicians indicate that results may last 18 months or longer depending on the patient’s natural aging process.
How many treatments will I need?
It typically takes just one treatment to accomplish a nice effect. However, some patients may choose to have a second treatment to obtain additional tightening. The skin will continue to improve over six months as new collagen is formed.
Does it hurt?
When the energy is applied, you’ll feel an intense but brief heating sensation. To protect the surface of your skin and keep you comfortable, a cooling spray is delivered before, during, and after each application.
What happens after treatment?
There’s no special care needed after treatment, and most patients return to their regular activities immediately. Redness and/or minor swelling may occur but it should disappear quickly.
Can I get Thermage instead of a facelift?
If you would like modest tightening of your skin without surgery then Thermage may be right for you, but it won’t provide the dramatic results of a surgical facelift. Chiva-Som’s doctors will be happy to discuss the different approaches with you.

Thermage received clearance from the FDA in July 2002.
