Lipolysis by Ultra-Z
Ultrasonic lipolysis, commonly know as ‘Ultrasonic Lipo’, is a non-invasive lipo-sculpture procedure to remove the stubborn pockets of fat such as “saddlebags”, “love handles” and double chins. It can effectively reduce fatty areas resistant to diet or exercise with fewer side effects than traditional liposuction. For removal of excess fat from the face, neck, upper arms, shoulders, abdomen, buttocks and thighs, Ultrasonic probes are inserted into fatty areas under local anaesthesia and sterile technique, and the emulsified fat is gently aspirated out. Ultrasonic lipolysis is classified as a minor surgical procedure as the surgeon makes a small incision in the area being treated. Since you are awake throughout the procedure, there are fewer risks than with traditional liposuction, which is often done under general anaesthesia.
You will notice some weight loss and tighter skin immediately following treatment, but the final results will be seen gradually over a number of weeks as your body continues to process and naturally remove the emulsified fat and as new collagen is formed. Generally removing up to 2 kilograms of fat in a single treatment can reduce the circumference of the treated area from 5 to 10 centimetres.
Am I a candidate for Lypolysis?
Ultrasonic lipolysis is not a weight-loss treatment and is not suitable for people who are significantly overweight. The ideal candidates are those with stubborn fat deposits that are resistant to diet and exercise. This treatment is better for those with small, localised areas of fat and is only recommended for the removal of up to 3,000 ml of fat. The larger quantities of fat may need to be removed by traditional liposuction methods. You should discuss the expected results with our doctor before treatment as it may require a more or less invasive procedure to transform your body shape.
How does this treatment work?
The procedure uses ultrasonic energy to effectively break down unwanted fat in the face and body, and then allows the body to either metabolise the melted fat, or our doctor will use ‘aspiration’ to remove it, a suction technique for greater volumes of fat. A local anaesthetic is used at the treatment area, and then a small incision is made in the skin. A very thin cannula is inserted through the skin and a probe is threaded through to emulsify the fatty tissue. The emulsified fat cells are then naturally eliminated by the body or suctioned out via the small cannula. The procedure takes between 1 to 2 hours, and there is minimal injury to adjacent tissue due to the selectivity of ultrasound.
What is the recovery time?
You should rest for an hour or so following treatment, and normal activities can usually be resumed the following day. It is best to avoid rigorous physical activity for 1 to 2 weeks after this procedure. You should also wear a compression garment at the treated area according to our doctor’s recommendation. For cases with excessively loose skin, the tightening of deep tissue with BodyTiteTM may be recommended immediately after liposuction while those with mild or moderate skin laxity may have a follow-up treatment with radio-frequency skin tightening treatments. Usually antibiotics and anti-inflammatory drugs are prescribed to reduce swollen areas during the first week after treatment.
