Back Neck Shoulder Massage and Physical Therapy at Chiva-Som for Holiday

Therapeutic treatment

Physiotherapy

We treat a wide range of conditions, ranging from lower back, neck and shoulder problems to sports injuries and pain in the arms and legs. Some problems are related to working long hours and poor posture, which strain the spine. We treat a full complement of sports injuries for both amateur and professional athletes. With many years of experience in private physiotherapy practice specialising in sports injuries and work-related conditions, we cater for all age groups. Some guests have recurrent problems and others may have injuries that are more acute.

With physiotherapy at Chiva-Som, all guests undergo a thorough assessment prior to treatment to identify the exact nature of injury and what underlying factors could be contributing to the pain. Treatments are based on accurate manipulation of the affected areas to gain rapid pain relief. The retraining of muscles following an injury is essential, and we provide exercises aimed to restore good posture to minimise the risk of re-occurrence. Good posture also helps you to achieve the look and feel of a healthy and balanced body.

Back neck Shoulder massage

Back, neck and shoulder tension has many causes. Our physiotherapists recommend the Back, Neck & Shoulder Massage to ease muscle tension by using specific techniques to concentrate on tight, stressed muscles of the upper body. With the release that follows, the body becomes more flexible and able to move freely.

Moreover, our physiotherapy team will help you determine the cause of your muscle tension. Learn how to relieve and prevent further tension by using techniques such as stretching, posture and position, massage and exercise.

Deep tissue massage

Deep Tissue Massage is designed to release chronic patterns of muscular tension by using slow strokes, direct pressure or friction usually across the grain of the muscles (cross fibre) using the fingers, thumbs or elbows. Using massage oils, it is effective on sore muscles and aches and pains, bringing more blood and oxygen to the tissue, which helps speed healing and relieves tightness and dysfunction. Deep Tissue Massage doesn’t necessary mean “hard” with the proper technique as muscles deep in the body can be reached with a minimum of pressure. At all times the client response will control the pressure and comfort level. Depending on the stress in the muscle, deep pressure can be applied.

Remedial Massage

When muscles and tendons become damaged or impaired, knotted, tense or immobile, Remedial Massage provides a healing treatment that can be gentle or strong, deep or shallow. It holistically treats the entire body and traces the discomfort to the original cause, healing both the cause of the disorder as well as the symptoms.

Remedial Massage utilizes several mobilization techniques to locate and repair damage and to support and speed up the body’s own repair mechanisms. The massage is applied directly to the skin using a lubricating medium, usually oil, which ensures that the muscles associated with the disorder are deeply penetrated and the joints are mobilized. Passive stretching moves are also used.

During the Remedial Massage, the blood supply is stimulated allowing toxins in the muscles to be removed, the peripheral nervous system is calmed to ease pain and discomfort, and the joint mobility is improved from toning and relaxing the muscles. An improvement to the health of the cells, the repairing of tissues and the easing of stiffness and tension can also be experienced through this therapeutic and relaxing massage.

Soft tissue mobilization

Performed by our physiotherapists, this specialist massage is based on “Muscle Train” theory that all the muscle tissues are connected with Muscle Energy Technique (MET), joint Mobilization and Manipulation technique and nerve mobilization. The physiotherapist will analyze any faulty posture and design the best technique for your alignment.

This is a gentle massage that works on soft tissue structure such as nerves and fascia to release nerve and connective tissue irritability helping to reduce pain from nerve compression while increasing your range of motion. This massage is ideal for anyone who is quite sensitive but suffers from tension.

Cranio – Myofascial Release

Chiva-Som physiotherapists offer a quick, tension-relief treatment that works on the back, scalp and facial areas that can hold a lot of stress and tension.

Using vibration stimulation our physiotherapists work on muscle fibres, ligaments and the connective tissue fascia particularly around the jaw, base of the skull, face and temples to increase blood circulation and lymphatic drainage.

As muscles have their own frequency of vibration, stimulation helps to activate a proper vibrating state, improving function and their ability to relax.

This treatment is particularly useful for those who desire a stronger therapy to work on chronically tense facial muscles, which can be caused by stress, worry, teeth grinding at night, etc.

Fascia Release Therapy

Fascia is a tough membrane of varying thickness which envelops, protects and separates everything in the body from whole muscle groups and bones down to each individual cell. Fascial Release Therapy is a very relaxing treatment involving a collection of techniques to separate layers of fascia, release restrictions and restore elasticity, conductivity and hydration in the body.

An effective hands-on technique that applies gentle, sustained pressure on fascia, this therapy focuses on scar tissue in the cranium, spine, ribs, pelvis and upper and lower extremities. Release of tension can be felt during the treatment. This technique helps to normalise muscle tone, decrease pain and swelling, and increase soft tissue and joint mobility.

Fast track back Release

Frequent of sitting at your desk for extended periods of time or long flight can cause chronic physical problems that you can hardly imagine. May has many causes of lower back pain or hips pain. Our physiotherapists recommend the Fast track back Release to ease muscle tension by using specific techniques to concentrate on tight, stressed muscles of the lower body (esp. The Psoas).

(The psoas muscles and the abdominal muscles are agonist and antagonist as well as synergists; a free interplay between the two is healthy; poor coordination between the two creates problems. The psoas muscles lie behind the abdominal contents, running from the lumbar spine to the inner thighs near the hip joints (lesser trochanters); the abdominal muscles lie in front of the abdominal contents, running from the lower borders of the ribs (with the rectus muscles as high as the nipples) to the frontal lines of the pelvis.)

This special therapy is designed for anyone who spends long hours at their desk, traveling or chronic lower back and hips issue. It is designed to help relieve back, hips, abdominal and pelvis discomfort.

Moreover, our physiotherapy team will help you determine the cause of your muscle tension. Learn how to relieve and prevent further tension by using techniques such as stretching, posture and position, massage and exercise.

Stress therapy

Frequent use of a personal computer and sitting at your desk for extended periods of time can cause chronic physical problems that you can hardly imagine. Neck and shoulder stiffness can lead to chronic headaches, numbness and weakness in the limbs and joints and eventually progress to Repetitive Strain Injuries (RSI) or work-related musculoskeletal disorders. These common ailments affect many of us who work long hours and more than 60% of us don’t receive the correct therapies and treatments.

At Chiva-Som, we’ve found that RSI is treatable with physiotherapy, and Computer Stress Therapy has been created to relieve stressed musculoskeletal areas. Using our myofascial relief technique, soft tissue release, and upper body massage with superficial heat applied on the whole arm, we help to increase blood circulation and relieve tension that manifests itself in the upper body. The treatment ends by applying an herbal compress to the eyes and facial area to relax soft tissue around the eyes.

Total Body Balancing

Except in those few who are able to use their left side and right side equally, its common to find that one side of the body will have features that are more prominent from overuse. Certain muscles will be strengthened to cope with additional requirements, while other muscles will be looser and more flexible. Frequent routine activities, such as working and exercising in repetitive ways can contribute to misalignment of structure.

Total Body Balancing is a total body evaluation and treatment approach using Tuina principle, body re-patterning, myo-fascial release and spinal release to relax the muscles, fascia, joints and ligaments to improve circulation, nerve and energy flow. This helps to normalizing sympathetic and parasympathetic activity creating a new homeodynamic state for muscle balance. The technique includes rhythmic compression along energy channels of the body, as well as a variety of techniques that manipulate and lubricate the joints. Following this kinesiology techniques for arm and leg re-patterning will be done, combine with gentle traction techniques to relax tense joints.

Kinesthetic Assessment

Kinesthetic Assessment is a physical assessment diagnosis through unique muscle testing skill to find muscle imbalances, joint problems, spine alignment and movement.

Our physiotherapists view your body’s ability to function as a balance between many physiological states and mechanisms. These can be functionally grouped as posture, flexibility, stability, coordination and muscular tone and performance. Each of these contributes to the overall function and ability of your body.

At the end of assessment, you will receive a written report, and specific advice on how to correct imbalances.
