Hua Hin Beach

An Inherently Beautiful Place

Hua Hin was a quiet fishing village before the Thai royal family built summer palaces here in the 1920s, and it became a fashionable escape for residents of Bangkok. Today, Hua Hin is still the most desirable ocean-front destination in the Southern province of Prachuap Khiri Khan.

April at Chiva-Som
April

Festivals

Between April 13th to 15th every year, we honour the Thai New Year – known as Songkran or the water festival. At Chiva-Som, we mark the occasion by immersing guests in tradition and dance alongside staff in the vigorous and very wet Songkran Long Drum Parade, followed by a Buddhist merit-making ceremony the next day. It is an unforgettable event and a true insight into Thai culture.

Chiva-Som Hua Hin Green Season Temperature
July – Oct

Temperature

Typically, Hua Hin avoids the monsoon downpours that are often seen in the north and south of Thailand. At this time of year, you can expect an average of 28 degrees with only slightly cooler evenings than in the summer. Rain, when it comes, usually falls for 1-2 hours, once a day, freshening the air and lowering the temperature.

Loy Krathong Festival
November

Festivals

Loy Krathong Festival is held on the full moon of the 12th month in the traditional Thai lunar calendar. In the western calendar this usually falls in November. ‘Loy’ means ‘to float’ and ‘Krathong’ is a small object, traditionally made from a section of banana tree trunk decorated with elaborately-folded banana leaves, flowers, candles and incense sticks. During the evening of the full moon, people launch these decorated ‘krathongs’ into a river or lake to create good luck and honour the Goddess of Water.
