Traditional Japanese-Style Acupunctural Bloodletting

Clinical Traditional Japanese-style, Acupunctural Bloodletting is one of the oldest acupuncture techniques. Piercing a vein or small artery in the finger tips or toes is a technique well-known among Acupuncturists. The method of adjusting the flow of qi in the vessels, in this case a few drops of blood let out from one or more peripheral points with a lance, is said to have significant effects. The combination of bleeding and needling aims at eliminating toxic factors and removing stagnation, promoting resuscitation, and clearing heat, as well as activating Qi and blood circulation in the meridians and collaterals. This relieves swelling and pain, facilitating the elimination of pathogenic Qi and the restoration of good health.
