Preserve Hua Hin Group Reforestation Project Hin Lek Fai hill

Preserve Hua Hin Group Reforestation Project Hin Lek Fai hill
on 13 December 2008

In their collective effort to address the trends of global warming and climate change, 48 students from nearby Silpakorn University volunteered their time and effort to participate in the reforestation project on top of Hin Lek Fai hill, the highest viewpoint in the Hua Hin municipality.

Five hundred trees were donated to the Preserve Hua Hin Group’s 5th Annual “I Love Hua Hin” Concert for Environmental & Social Sustainability, and were planted in the public park on 13 December 2008. The carbon emissions generated from the concert and its related activities were offset to zero from the donation of carbon credits by a carbon asset management firm and the planting of the trees made the event “Climate Positive”.

The trees are located in a sustainable area with plenty of sunlight and regular hydration in the dry season from an underground irrigation system provided by funds collected from previous PHHG events. As the trees grow and develop foliage, they will continue to absorb the earth-warming greenhouse gas carbon dioxide for many years to come. The PHHG is extremely grateful for the support from the students and administration of Silpakorn University by participating in this community preservation event.
