NUTRITION

Good, balanced nutrition is a lifestyle medicine, supporting both physical and mental health. It is key to our approach, here at Zulal, for enhancing our overall wellness. When we eat correctly for our particular physiology, we not only lower our stress levels, sleep better and manage our weight more easily, we reduce hidden inflammation in our body’s organs and our brain. And we increase our chances for ageing positively – in other words living longer and living well at the same time.

We understand that we are all individual when it comes to how we process the food that we eat which is why we take guests through various tests and measurements to ensure we create a nutritional plan that is optimal for you. If you come to us with particular health considerations such as high cholesterol or diabetes we take this into account as well.

For those who present with common issues such as fatigue, old swings, weight fluctuations and skin and digestive issues, such as bloating or IBS, poor sleep or skin conditions, we offer a simple Food Intolerance Test as part of your Health and Wellness consultation, with same day results. We test for 58 common Arabian and International foods.

We go deeper with Nutrigenomics –  a style of individual testing that looks at the link between your response to different foods and your genes, testing for sensitivities to carbohydrates, proteins and fats. These results also indicate your level of susceptibility to certain chronic conditions or inheritable diseases, your potential allergies and risk of vitamin and mineral deficiency.

We also measure your metabolic rate with our Indirect Calorimeter Test that measures the number of calories your body burns during a day, while active and resting. This is especially useful if weight loss is your goal, or if your weight has plateaued, if you’re pregnant or want to increase energy for fitness. This test includes and energy expenditure evaluation measuring your rate of exchange between oxygen intake and carbon dioxide exhalation.

All of these specific tests are valuable tools for creating personalised, target-based meal plans and treatment schedules.
