A Message from CEO

At Chiva-Som, sustainability is more than a commitment, it is a guiding philosophy that shapes how we operate, grow, and contribute to the world around us. Anchored in our culture and long-term vision, it drives meaningful action across every aspect of our organisation. Through our quadruple bottom-line approach, balancing Wellness, Environment, Community, and Prosperity, we deliver exceptional wellness experiences while ensuring responsible environmental stewardship, positive social impact, and sustainable business performance.

Our journey toward a zero-carbon future is well underway. We are actively measuring and reducing our carbon footprint, investing in innovation, and improving operational efficiency to advance our long-term climate ambitions. At the same time, our enduring partnership with the Hua Hin community remains central to our purpose. By supporting environmental conservation, education, local livelihoods, and social wellbeing, we strive to create shared value beyond our property boundaries to positively influence the wider ecosystem around us.

Our alignment with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals continues to guide our strategy and priorities, providing a global framework for meaningful and measurable impact. As we look ahead, we are expanding our sustainability efforts across our supply chain, strengthening partnerships, and embedding responsible practices throughout our value chain to ensure long-term, shared value creation.

Sustainability is an ongoing journey. Together with our employees, partners, guests, and community, we remain committed to building a resilient, responsible, and sustainable future.

Energy

We employ new technologies and alternative, renewable energy in our ongoing efforts to decrease dependency on fossil fuels and greenhouse gas emissions. We’re working proactively to attain carbon neutrality across all our resorts.

Water

We make constant efforts to reduce our water consumption by employing water-saving technologies and smart irrigation systems. Waste water is carbon and sand-filtered for plant irrigation and replenishing resort lake levels. We also harvest rainfall.

Waste & Recycling

We use recycled materials wherever possible such as FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) wood products and biodegradable packaging. Other plastics, glass, metal and paper products are sent to local recycling centres. Organic waste is converted into animal feed for local farmers and compost for our gardens.

Our Ecosystems

At Chiva-Som, our connection with nature begins with the way our resort was thoughtfully designed and built. From the outset, careful consideration was given to preserving the natural terrain and minimising disturbance to the surrounding biodiversity. Local and natural materials were prioritised wherever possible, allowing the resort to blend harmoniously with its environment while reducing environmental impact.

Beyond our property, we actively support the protection and restoration of local ecosystems.

Our initiatives include the preservation and rehabilitation of nearby mangrove forests, which play a vital role in coastal protection, biodiversity conservation, and carbon sequestration. Complementing these efforts is our own certified organic garden, where vegetables and herbs are cultivated using natural methods that promote soil health and biodiversity.

Social & Cultural

We support economic growth in our communities by hiring and sourcing locally as far as we can. We also contribute to social welfare and cultural conservation schemes with fundraising and sponsored events. We’re conscious to share our commitment to reducing our environmental impact with guests, staff, suppliers and our neighbourhoods.
