The first full marathon in Hua Hin was held on Sunday 13th May 2018 at Wat Khao Krailart in Hua Hin. The event was managed by the Preserve Hua Hin Group, an organisation engaged in environmental and social education programmes to promote sustainable practices for Hua Hin’s community.
Preserve Hua Hin Group comes under the Royal Patronage of HRH Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn co-organised the full marathon with Hua Hin municipality, Prachuap Khiri Khan Province and the Tourism Authority of Thailand. Over 3,444 runners participated in the event and more than 1,000,000 THB was raised.
The Hua Hin Marathon had a number of coequal aims:
- To motivate the public to engage in physical fitness for good health and longevity.
- To raise awareness of environmental and social sustainability.
- To continue to preserve and develop “Krailart Niwate” as the eco-spiritual tourism center at the last remaining urban mangroves in Hua Hin.
The race route started and finished at the Buddhist temple Wat Khao Krailart in Khao Takiab. The routes were based on the different distances and included tourist attractions such as Hua Hin town, Khao Tao reservoir and Hua Hin beach.
